On March 31, 2026, Mr. Le Huu Hung – Chairman of Hung Duy Group, Vice President in charge of the Southern region of the Vietnam Cassava Association, and President of the Tay Ninh Tapioca Starch Association participated in and delivered a presentation at the Asia Cassava Breeders and Disease Network 2026. The event was organized by the Institute of Agricultural Science for Southern Vietnam (IAS), in collaboration with the Alliance of Bioversity International & CIAT and the Tay Ninh Department of Agriculture and Environment.

The workshop served as a strategic scientific and international cooperation platform, addressing key challenges of the cassava sector, including the development of high-yield, disease-resistant varieties and strengthening disease monitoring and control. It also promoted international collaboration, technology transfer, and enhanced competitiveness for Vietnam’s cassava industry.

In his remarks, Mr. Le Huu Hung highlighted that Vietnam has consistently ranked among the world’s leading exporters of cassava and tapioca starch products, with annual export turnover ranging from approximately USD 1.2 to 1.5 billion. China remains the primary market, alongside others such as South Korea, Taiwan, and ASEAN countries.

Looking ahead, domestic demand for cassava products is expected to increase significantly, driven by the processing industry, food production, and animal feed sectors. In particular, cassava serves as a key raw material for ethanol production used in biofuel blending.

Against this backdrop, increasing cassava output is a strategic priority to ensure a stable supply of raw materials for the processing industry.

Hung Duy Starch is honored to participate in the workshop and contribute to enhancing the competitiveness of the cassava sector, while supporting Tay Ninh Province’s ambition to become a key hub for cassava seed production and supply in Vietnam and the region.
